Magazine. Barbaricum seeks a Maritime Maintenance and Logistics Advisor (MMLA) to provide embedded advisory support services for a State Department customer.

This work supports efforts to improve the capability of the Ivorian Navy to accurately forecast future logistics requirements and improve operational readiness.

  • The MMLA will provide mentoring, advising, instruction, and training on maritime logistics and maintenance. Specific objectives include standardizing procedures and systems to identify and approve preventative maintenance and repair budgets for vessels;
  • improve the Ivorian Navy’s spare parts procurement processes; and maintain spare parts inventory.


  • U.S. citizen
  • Speak, read and write in French and English at 3 / 3 level
  • Minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in operations and maintenance of Defender watercraft and similar watercraft, such as patrol and other mono-hull watercraft.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Maritime Supply and Logistics
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Defense Budgeting and Procurement
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Maritime Maintenance / Engineering
  • Minimum of three years working in Sub-Saharan Africa or a post-conflict country
  • Minimum of two years’ experience developing Maritime Supply and Logistic curriculum
  • Minimum of two years’ experience developing and delivering maintenance or logistics training modules to foreign militaries
  • Minimum of two years’ training experience in Maritime Supply and Logistics
