About the role :
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager is part of the regional team leading the efforts around data quality and alignment, impact measurement and extracting learnings from the data we collect.
This is a key role driving our transition into a data driven decision-making sustainability team in the region. The role reports into the Head of Sustainability and Farm Services and will closely work with the Global M&E team and our teams in cocoa origin countries.
This role suits a data enthusiast who enjoys a good challenge and is excited to establish solid data collection and analysis processes and grow the capacity of our origin based M&E teams.
Our sustainability team and activities are growing incredibly fast, and the M&E team in the region needs to match this growth to continue to provide support and build capacity to our operational team.
This role will be responsible to lead the coordination of the M&E of each country to ensure alignment and efficiency. The role will also be responsible for the promotion, development and testing of new technological solutions to keep Barry Callebaut up-to-date of innovations in the industry.
Key responsibilities include :
Lead the sustainability Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning strategy and vision from Africa region perspective : Act as point of accountability for all M&E activities across the region Hold vision of M&E within wider sustainability team, and develop its capacity and functions Build a Regional Impact Framework and drive Sustainability Team on impact reporting Ensure the effective implementation of Global M&E policies and procedures Ensure consistency in our external Annual Sustainability Reporting Evaluate country specific systems and teams to deliver MEL activities Build the capacity of country M&E teams as needed Develop regional learning framework and process, ensuring learnings are generated, captured and shared across the region and globally
Coordinate and support origin countries to in the improving their sustainability reporting : Support and standardize the development of tools and processes to monitor progress against internal sustainability goals Set up technical requirements for reporting & in-house app development in cooperation with Headquarter teams (Sustainability and IM / IT) Ensuring data collected is standardized, of quality, and auditable (if needed).
In coordination with the Global Sustainability Communications Manager, support the aggregation, cleaning and processing of data according to client-specific reporting needs Proposing corrective / improvement actions to improve data and work flows.
Drive the development and piloting of our technological solution and align needs and development requirements
Participate in design of new country / regional sustainability projects or pilots to develop or validate their M&E components.
Oversee the design and management of external evaluation processes and specific studies / research at the country-level
Liaise with partners and donors to ensure that M&E data and analysis is responsive to their requests and requirements.
About you :
Technical / functional competencies
Experience in similar field in Monitoring & Evaluation in sustainable development, a minimum of 5 years
Experience in Origin countries is preferred
Coordination of teams outside of reporting line with different agenda, background, and expertise.
Project management experience
Well versed in Microsoft Excel / Agile environments / GIS and other analytical tools (Python, R)
Experienced in working with or in African origins of several years is a must
Experience in using and reporting from SAP and other databases, experience in database design a plus
Strong analytical and critical skills to ensure excellence in data and consistency in KPI reporting
Experience with setting up and running field-based experiments for impact analysis a plus
Experience with designing or working in sustainable KPI frameworks
Independence and quick learning ability
Ability to explain complex reporting processes to end-users with strong coaching and training skills
Experience in agri-environment issues, child labor, farmer livelihood highly desirable
